    The story behind 'the moUthpiece guy’ and how it all began

    Jeff Darr (aka "The Mouthpiece Guy") was using mouthpieces in combat sports long before he actually started making them. Competing as a boxer from 1994 to 2009, he knows what it's like to get up in the ring and take punches. Right out of high school in 1996, Jeff completed the dental technology program at Riverside Community College in 1996. As a full time dental laboratory technician (now with over 40,000 hours of real world dental lab experience) Jeff made his first custom mouthguard for himself in 1999 while working for a dental lab in Riverside, CA.

    In 2003, he opened his own dental lab making porcelain crowns and bridges for dentist all over Southern California, and made mouthguards just as a hobby for friends and family at the boxing gym. This "hobby" soon grew to something much larger than Jeff ever expected. In July of 2014 after 10 years of making custom fit mouthguards as a side job, Jeff sold his dental lab business to pursue a career of making custom mouthguards full time as "the Mouthpiece Guy". Jeff has built the Mouthpiece Guy brand from the ground up, with his years of experience as a boxer and the technique and training of a master dental technician!

    • In The Dental Industry Since 1997 - Since graduating high school in 1996, Jeff Darr, our owner, has been working in the dental lab industry full time. He has made over 5000 mouthguards with his own two hands.
